I tried changing the color profiles but nothing seems to work. The pictures in photoshop appear a lot darker than it really is but after saving it and viewing it outside photoshop it turns back to its normal state.

Check to see if photoshop has monitor calibration tools. This will create a new color profile which should allow you to view consistant colors and hues/saturations throughout windows. The calibration instructions should be in the help file of photoshop.
sounds like color profiles to me... maybe you should mess with them a little more to make sure
