Can someone tell me what Photoshop is??

I always hear people talking about ''Photoshop''...what is it? Where can i download it? Is it already on my computer? I have Windows XP. I'd like to make some cool pictures, where do i start? I have adobe photoshop, but in my opinion most adobe products are crap, and mine won't open.

in simplest forms its a computer program that allows the user to edit pictures (like make someone look skinnier/or give them a clearer face...etc)

you can also use it to make your own stuff like layer pics on top of a background and add artistic/creative things to it

its basically a picture editing program.

well i have adobe photoshop 7 and the only way i know how to do it is to make all your layers that you want and then import that photoshop project into image ready, which should come with photoshop....there should be a button below the tool bar....like a link or you could click ctrl+shift+m on pc. Once you're in adobe image ready, you can go to the ''window'' tab, then go to ''Animation'' and you'll see the animation window at the bottom. hope this helps. P.S (in imageready, your frames show exactly what you have on the screen...if you put a layer to be hidden....it will be hidden in whatever fram you are in) you might want to check out some online tutorials...hope this isn't confusing...if it is just email me miqtmail@gmail.com

How would I do something like that on photoshop elements 6.0? Or do I need to get a different version of photoshop to do that? I only downloaded a trial so getting a different version to do that wouldn't be that big of a problem. So, thanks to anyone that helps! =D

image show id same image flip over and placed beside each other, and also edited and aligned to fit neatly, so you should be able to use the same image edit copies to use , then place in same new canvas file for one banner layout,

Will photoshop work on new hard drive?!?

I have photoshop installed, but i want to get a bigger hard drive

That means i will have to install my photoshop on my new hard drive

Is this do-able

Wont adobe just think i am putting it onto another computer

New hard drive --- why not set it up as a second drive in the computer. Easy to do, if unsure, google installing second hard drive and you will find instructions on how to do it. Then move all your data files from the currently C: drive to the new drive. This will free space on the C: drive and give you a brand new disk for storing all your work which you will not want to lose. This also makes backup of data easier as everything is on one drive. Leave all your applications on the C: drive. No programs to reinstall (change the drive and you will have to install EVERYTHING, Windows and all updates, other programs --- probably about 2 -3 days of work.

You could also then set the second drive as the location for the Windows swap file and the PS scratch file.

If it is a small file then you might be able to copy it to a flash drive(make sure you write down the key code if there is one) then install your new hard drive then but the flash drive back in. You might have to reinstal it but thats better then losing it. =)
You have to disable the license number you have and then install it on the other computer using the same license number. I think you can find directions on adobes website.
Photoshop is a different program to adobe and will automatically go into adobe under a seperate file the sad thing is you might have to reinstal photoshop
If you have the installation CD/App and a valid registration key, it should be fine.

CS3 would be the typical PhotoShop product.

But if you're not doing publishing work you may want to consider using the GIMP or gimpshop which would cost nothing.

Why isn't Photoshop letting me save PNG!?!?!?!?!?

For such an expensive program, Photoshop CS2 has been nothing but PROBLEMS!

NOW it won't let me save as a PNG... I'm trying to have a transparent background, and of course, Photoshop doesn't want me to do that, I guess.

My only options it lets me choose are JPG, and PSD and other Photoshop options. No PNG OR GIF!

I've been used Photoshop since version 5.5.

Normally, I won't use File %26gt; Save As%26gt; *.jpeg (except for *.psd format). I always use File %26gt; Save For Web%26gt; then I choose what type of format i need (GIF, PNG org JPEG). That's it.

-cant be things like cmyk(go rgb)

Try Gimp, it is free and has all the power of photoshop and even operates very similar to it. you can do a search in your favorite search engine to find it.
The best free Photoshop replacement is called GIMP. It's available for Windows, and the two files you'll need are in the links below. But be prepared to put some time into learning it before you can do the stuff you describe. If you're not willing to invest time in learning how to use the tools correctly, then even Photoshop won't really give you good results.
